Do engineers pay to use SPEC Toolbox?

The core calculation tools on SPEC Toolbox are free for engineers to use. A Pro tier with additional features, saved calculations, full PDF reports with certification references, and team access, is available by subscription. The free access model is central to how the platform drives adoption: no cost barrier means more engineers use it, which means more specification activity for integrated partners.

What does it mean to integrate my products with SPEC Toolbox?

Integrating your products onto SPEC Toolbox means making them available for design by our specifiers on the platform. Your products appear by name alongside other integrated brands. Specifiers can select your product and automate the design against your certified data, generating a compliant report and removing all the technical challenges they’d otherwise face setting up their own infrastructure to specify your product.

Your certified product data, dimensions, load values, grades, and certification references, is built directly into SPEC Toolbox’s structural calculation engines, across product categories including CLT, glulam, screws, brackets, connectors, and more. You don’t need to build or maintain any software. We handle the integration from your technical literature.

How long does integration take from first meeting to going live?

For most partners, integration takes around 2 months until you can start testing the solution and around 4 months to go live from the point of signing. The timeline depends on the number of product families and how complete your technical documentation is. The process runs across four structured meetings: an introduction, a live tooling demo with your technical team, a formal proposal, and a go/no-go decision. Once signed, your technical team shares product literature and we handle the build. We’ve run this process with more than 35 partners and have refined it to create as little internal burden as possible for your team.

How is this different from building our own calculation software?

Building your own calculation tools can require months to deliver very narrow and focused solutions, and upwards on a year with a team of multiple professionals and significant capital expenditure, with no guarantee of adoption.

We have a team of 60 people dedicated specifically to building this software. SPEC Toolbox gives you access to proven calculation engine, and the existing eco-system of nearly 40 manufacturers already used by 6,000+ engineers, across CLT, screws, connectors, brackets, glulam, and more.

Your products are integrated into existing workflows engineers already trust, rather than asking them to adopt a new tool. Partners share the infrastructure cost, which means a fraction of the price of a bespoke build, with zero technical debt on your side.

What data does SPEC Toolbox give my sales team?

This depends slightly on the package that you purchase, but even at the basic tier, all partners receive access to their own specification data, you understand at a company and location level who the specifiers are that are interacting with your products on our platform.

For suppliers who are really data hungry, you have the ability to purchase more advanced data packages, including a global heatmap, integrations into your CRM turns specification data into sales intelligence: you can identify warm leads before they’ve contacted you, track the impact of product launches or range expansions, and measure market share by category and geography in real time.

Can I embed SPEC Toolbox calculators on my own website?

Yes. The white label embed option lets you host SPEC Toolbox calculators on your own domain, branded to your company, no SPEC Toolbox branding or competitor products visible. Engineers can design with your products without leaving your site, and you receive the lead data when they save their calculation. This is the Website Tooling product and is available as part of the Advanced partnership tier.

Which product categories can be integrated?

SPEC Toolbox currently supports integration across structural screws and self-drilling fasteners, Hangers CLT panels, glulam and LVL, dowels and bolts, timber brackets and connectors, light-frame timber, ribbed deck, and timber-concrete composite (TCC) systems. The platform covers AS1720.1 (Australia), Eurocode 5 (Europe), CSA O86 (Canada), and NDS (USA). If your product category isn’t listed, raise it in your first meeting, the platform roadmap is shaped in part by partner demand.

What does the first meeting actually involve?

The first meeting is a 45-minute Discovery Call, no commitment required. We walk you through how the platform works, how the partner integration process runs, and our business model. You can bring your technical, sales, or marketing team, or come alone. We ask you to complete a short pre-meeting survey so we can make the conversation relevant to your product category and regions.
